Description:
The CIBMAT project consists of a resource book on indigenous building materials and technologies and an electronic database that can be accessed on the internet through the DOST website. The main goal is to increase awareness on the existence of these materias through the availability of CIBMAT on the internet and through the distribution of the CIBMAT resource book.
Application of the Technology:
Most of these indigenous building materials and technologies have already been existing for years but lack exposure. these can be used as substitutes for conventional building materials and technologies. Their utilization may lead to significant savings in labor or materials and increase in construction efficiency. This compendium presents sample low cost housing package schemes in order to promote the use of indigenous building materials and technologies in the construction of inexpensive houses. In addition, it includes a study on the perception of various sectors on the performance of indigenous building materials based on their experience.
